Finding my style

Have you found your style? Do we ever truly find our style?
I feel like within the fashion industry due to trends we as buyers/creatives of fashion our individual style changes all the time. Nothing stays the same in fashion, trends come and go and so does our on going evolution of personal style. I always found it hard to describe my style when I was younger and even through my degree. One day I would be glam in dresses/skirts and over the knee boots, the next day I'd be wearing trainers, flairs and a slogan tee. I kinda wore what my mood felt like. So when the question got asked, describe your style? Well, I found it pretty difficult as I liked so many different things.

Being in fashion can be pretty pressured, you have to wear the newest and the most on trend clothes or your simply not up to date. I felt like by the time I bought the trend piece that was in fashion at the time, we moved onto a new trend. Keeping up with fashion isn't just whats in the new in section at ASOS, it's magazines, colour trends, catwalk collections and so much more. I am fascinated by so many styles and trends that I end up buying a lot of stuff that doesn't tend to match with anything else. But I feel like I have finally found my personal style and I feel like fashion right now is right up my street...

From flairs to slogan tees, oversized jumpers to tracksuits. I am just obsessed with fashion this season. I am a bit of a tomboy, I live for my trainers, a pair of trousers and a leather jacket. I like the simple yet sporty vibe, adding my own stamp on a outfit. I still love my evening wear to be different from my day wear, I am more glam and presented but those looks mimic my overall style and sit side by side each other. This outfit in this post very much sums me up, I feel like I live in different versions of this outfit so much right now. 2018 so far has really hit the nail on the head for me when it comes to my style. Before I always struggled as like I said one day to the next I would look completely different and didn't have a consistent style.

I was always frustrated by this, I wanted to know what I liked, to love every piece in my wardrobe and finally I feel like I do. Don't get me wrong I will probably have to set up a Depop account after sorting out my wardrobe as like I say I have a lot of random stuff which I've probably never worn. But now is the time for me to sort my wardrobe, out with the old and in with the new. I am so excited for 2018 fashion as so far I am beyond in love with everything it has to offer. Fashion is exciting and I think everyone goes through stages of not really knowing what they like, what suits them or what to buy. I have had that feeling for years, thats why I owned so many different things. But now every outfit I wear feels like a Sam outfit, they all represent me. I couldn't feel more excited about fashion than I do right now, my blog, my degree and growing up has definitely opened my eyes to what I like and helped make my style become consistent and feel completely me.

Will it change? Yes probably, but thats the fun part right. Style is a representation of you, who you are, what you want to say. But more importantly, it's what makes you unique. We can all own the same t-shirt, but it's how you wear it, that's what makes it your style.

  1. This!! I'm literally writing a post about a similar thing. Fashion changes so fast and we're almost expected to keep up with that and everyone seems to have a style that is definitely them. I've never really had a set style and like you tend to dress with my mood or what I feel the occasion calls for. I think it's nice to mix things up and although it can be great to be included in that next big trend, it's better to just be yourself. xx

    1. Thanks so much for your comment! Yes I completely agree, being yourself represents your style and is more important than what everyone else wears xx
